Upgrading from 8.1 to 8.3
This page is for the person who looks after the Ignition gateway. Arifa has one module file for each Ignition line, so a gateway that moves from 8.1 to 8.3 needs the 8.3 module and a new profile.
An Arifa profile saved on an 8.1 gateway is not carried over when the gateway is upgraded to 8.3. You create it again on 8.3, from the notes you take in step 1.
1. Note the profile's settings
For each Arifa profile, write down its Name and every setting, or take screenshots of them. Profile settings lists them all.
You also need the Africa's Talking API key in step 5. If you do not have it, you can generate a new one in the Africa's Talking dashboard, which replaces the old one. See the API key.
Back up the gateway before you go on.
2. Upgrade the gateway
Upgrade the gateway to Ignition 8.3.3 or later, following Inductive Automation's instructions. Arifa 0.10.0 has been tested on 8.3.10.
3. Install the 8.3 build
Download Arifa-SMS-Notification-0.10.0-ignition-8.3.modl from the releases page, and install it as described in Install and verify, on the Ignition 8.3 tab. Compare the thumbprint as you would for a new install.
4. Create the profile again, with the same name
Go to Services > Alarming > Notification, choose Create Profile +, and pick Arifa SMS. Give the profile the same Name it had on 8.1, and enter the settings from your notes.
5. Enter the API key
On the profile, set API Key to Embedded and type the key. See where to type the API key. Save the profile.
6. Check each pipeline's Notification block
Open each alarm pipeline that sends through Arifa, and confirm that its Notification block uses the new profile. If it does not, choose the profile again and save the pipeline.
7. Send a test
Set Test Mode to Yes on the Notification block, and trigger an alarm. The gateway log shows a block starting THIS PROFILE IS RUNNING IN TEST MODE. See Test Mode. Then set Test Mode back to No.
Done when: each Arifa profile reads Running on Services > Alarming > Notification, the gateway log shows API key read for it, and the test in step 7 shows THIS PROFILE IS RUNNING IN TEST MODE.
